Seattle Couples Photography – Margi+Travis

Sunday, August 28th, 2011

I met Margi at my old job a few years back when Margi was just graduating from school and interviewing at the same company.  When I first met her, it was really easy to fall in love with her because she’s exceptionally beautiful on the outside, but a genuinely warm person on the inside.  My company at the time, of course, made her an offer but unfortunately Margi took another offer with a different firm.  This may have been the best decision she’s ever made because it was this decision that led her down a path that eventually introduced her to Travis.

Travis is one of those guys you love and trust immediately…probably after you’ve had your first pint of beer with him.  You see, a couple years after I met Margi…I met Travis.  Through chit chat and casual conversation, I found him to be smart, kind, and amazingly funny.  I met each of them separately, but when I eventually found out they were a couple, I could not have imagined a better fit.  Both Margi+Travis are genuinely good people and they are so in love.

This post and slideshow is coincidentally timed perfectly because Margi+Travis just got engaged this past Friday.  I squealed when I read the news because it truly makes me happy when I see two people so perfect for one another step into another chapter in their lives.  Travis probably made Margi the luckiest girl on this planet last Friday and when she said yes, he the luckiest man.  Together they are in for a lifetime of happiness!

Margi+Travis, congrats on your engagement!  Enjoy your slideshow!

Photog Phriends

Thursday, August 25th, 2011

This past weekend our phellow photog phriend Ami of amisinLA paid a visit from sunny California.  Like Chris and me, Ami had a wedding to shoot this past weekend, and in between our busy schedules, we were able to sit and chat a little bit about our passion: PHOTOGRAPHY!

Ami and me...chatting it up in our new Cindi+Chris branded home office. More photos to come!

With the limited amount of time we actually spent together, Ami and I chatted about anything and everything photography related.  We tested flashes, showed each other our newest gear accessories, even traded secret celebrity photoshoot wishlists.  And I’m for certain that one day Ami WILL get a chance to shoot Beyonce!  I mean, they live in the same city after all!

After this weekend, I realized how much I appreciated Ami’s presence and now that she’s back in her sunny city of LA, I honestly miss having a close photog phriend here in my city of Seattle to gab with.  Ami and I approach our photography differently, but we embrace and appreciate each other’s styles.  And it’s because of these differences, we find that we learn from each other’s strengths.

When Cindi+I decided we wanted to consolidate our artistic outlets and do photography together, one of the thoughts that crossed our minds with great excitement was:  ”wouldn’t it be great to work with your friends?”

Of course, to get there, we’d first have to make friends, and that’s been half the fun of our photography journey.  We feel privileged everytime we’re invited to hold front row seats at some of life’s most important milestones, and ever so blessed to already have had such awesome clients to work with.  Over dinners, planning+prep, and later celebrations, we’ve made real lasting friendships we would not have otherwise found.  It’s true — it is great to work with your best friends.

Meet our latest friend.  She’s a little ball of sunshine that’s confident, decisive, and strong-willed.  Oh, and the cutest thing you’ve ever seen.

We took a little bit of a different approach with this shoot — no poses, just candids.  And you’d never know it because she’s just so durn photogenic.  Cute overload.

Seattle Couples Photography – Jean+Jun

Monday, August 8th, 2011

Three years ago today Jun stood up in the living room.  Seconds before that, he was on his knee, proposing to his high school sweetheart.  This was after Jun took Jean out on a romantic dinner and a short discussion about not being totally ready to tie the knot (just to throw her off) when Jean walks through her front door to find music, candle light and one of the sweetest proposals ever.

Jean+Jun started their journey together in high school.  Somewhere between Spanish class, after school tennis, and the local Taco Bell, they fell in love.  And like the heartburn that accompanies late night Taco Bell, that love burns stronger year after year.  Jean, Jun and I went to high school together and they are Chris and my dear friends.  We wanted to wish them a happy 3rd year proposal anniversary and a wonderful upcoming second year wedding anniversary.  We’re blessed to have them in our lives and proud to say that they’ll be our lifetime friends.

In typical Seattle fashion, the day started out with pouring rain.  Jean and I sat on pins and needles, undecided on whether the shoot should still happen.  When early afternoon rolled around, the clouds cleared and it turned out to be one of the nicest afternoons we’ve had this summer.  We met up in Seattle’s Georgetown neighborhood and then continued to Coulon Park for one of the most fun shoots ever.

Sneak Peek – Margi+Travis

In the afternoon, she shines hella bright,
Filling up the room, reflecting off the light.
Shimmer in the walls, and everything between,
Lens to the sky, F16.
Picturing the scene, framing up the shots,
Children in the street, turn in to a park.
Mountains in the back, trees in the front,
Shutter speed set, click, turn ‘em into art.

It’s been uncharacteristically sunny as of late.  Yes, I know August means we’re deep into summer, and this is how it’s supposed to be.  But it really hasn’t been that way all summer this year.  Good old Pacific UpperLeft rain, wind, and even the occasional freak hail has forced us to reschedule more shoots than we’d like to think about.  Deep into summer.

But this week has been bea. u. ti. ful. Driving home today jammin’ “Marion Sunshine” I thought back about our past few sunshine-laden shoots, and I just had to share at least one…

…Stay tuned for more from Margi+Travis.  Swoon.
