Seattle Wedding Photography | Jessica+Mikiya | Within SODO

Tuesday, April 15th, 2014

Jessica and I met over a cup of coffee in downtown Seattle.  We gabbed for over an hour about her wedding day as well as other things.  And by the end of our chat, we were the perfect bride/photographer match.  I love how easy going Jessica is and I know I didn’t have to meet Mikiya to know how special he is as a person simply because of what she had told me about him.

On their wedding day, the weather Gods spoke to us and parted their 60% chance of rain cloud for a little over an hour so we can take some gorgeous photos of this gorgeous couple.  Literally the moment we were finished, it started pouring cats and dogs.  Now THAT’S good luck right?

Congratulations to Jessica+Mikiya…our first 2014 wedding!  We couldn’t be more happier for them and we hope you enjoy their photos!

Seattle Wedding Photography | Sam+Nicky | Fireseed Catering, Whidbey Island

Wednesday, October 9th, 2013

Fireseed Catering is the hidden treasure we discovered thanks to Sam+Nicky.  It was such a beautiful September day and the location was just beautiful.  Everything about the venue fit Sam+Nicky and we are so glad they gave us the opportunity to document their special day.  Sam wanted to make this day as personal as possible.  She’s the ultimate DIY bride…risking being eaten half alive by mosquitos so she can go into the woods with her father to chop down branches for her center pieces.  It’s a story Sam told me over a cup of coffee weeks before the big day for which I almost snorted liquid through my nose.

When it comes to a great couple, Sam+Nicky truly defines it.  I can not imagine how hard it would be to maintain a long distance relationship for the ENTIRE duration of that relationship.  But these two love birds did it.  For as long as these two’s been together, they’ve never really lived in the same city.  In fact, immediately after their wedding, Nicky had to fly out the next day back to serving our country in the National Guard.  As we captured their wedding day, our hearts really went out to them.  Because Nicky is such a great guy and Sam is the most beautiful and gentle person inside and out.  They were just the perfect match for one another.  We’re happy to share that Nicky will be moving back this winter to finally begin his life together with Sam.  But in the meantime, we hope these photos help them relive their day and bring them a little bit closer from the miles that separate them for now.

Seattle Wedding Photography | Nichole+Tim | St. Ignatius Chapel and Pioneer Square

Tuesday, October 1st, 2013

When the first words out of the groom’s mouth during his wedding day is, “TWO-CHAINSSSS!!!” you know it was going to be a good day.  As photographers, on a wedding day we spend about twelve hours on our feet and it can sure be tiring.  But being with Nichole+Tim, they made us forget about our aching feet.  Nichole+Tim just wanted to have fun on their wedding day…and they weren’t kidding.  When we saw that each of the banquet tables at their reception housed two Costco sized bottles of liquor, we knew this party was going down!  Oh…and did we mention the Costco sized wine buffet off to the side in case people ran out of alcohol at their tables?

Weddings are supposed to be fun and Nichole+Tim proved this to be the case.  I’ve known Nichole for years!  In fact, Chris and Nichole worked together when he purchased my engagement ring and Nichole actually remembered the day he took a long lunch to get it.  So it was even more special for us to photograph their special day for them.  We’ve never had such a crazy time with them and their wedding party, walking around Pioneer Square yelling at the top of our lungs.  Just check them out!

Seattle Wedding Photography | Rachel+CJ | Daybreak Star Indian Cultural Center; Discovery Park

I’m sure we’ve all met someone that automatically made us feel comfortable around them without them even trying very hard.  That’s how I strive to be when I meet new people and Rachel was that person for me.  I first met Rachel while shooting Bre+Casey’s wedding last fall.  When Rachel contacted me about photography and we met at a coffee shop, I knew right away that she was the type of bride I wanted to shoot.  She has an innate ability to comfort people that’s around her and her wedding day was just that.  Rachel+CJ wanted to celebrate with their closest family and friends.  They’re the couple that’s so thoughtful that they didn’t even get their own plate of food until their guests all got their food during reception.  And they are so meant to be for one another.

It doesn’t take long for one to see how passionate CJ is about Rachel.  Not only did his vows to her made me tear through my camera lens, it was also the way he held her during our portrait session together.  Whatever pose we asked him to do, he did with such ease.  As if he’s meant to hold her all his life.  And the way he touches her face when he kisses her…it melts my heart.

We were so blessed to be apart of this awesome couple’s wedding day.  Take a look at their sneak peek and slideshow below!

Seattle Engagement Photography | Priscilla+Dale | Washington Arboretum and Edmonds Beach

Tuesday, August 27th, 2013

Priscilla+Dale will be getting married in about four weeks and a couple of weeks ago, we were lucky enough to spend a nice Sunday afternoon with them walking in the park and on the beach.  Priscilla is a photographer’s dream.  Why?  Well, because she laughs on command!  I’ve never worked with anyone that can laugh naturally as easily as she can.  And although Dale is a little bit more serious, when we asked him to be a little silly infront of our lenses, he totally surprised us.  I wonder what the wedding day will bring out of these two.  Check out their engagement sneak peek below.

Seattle Wedding Photography | Quynh+Paul | Lake Union Crew

Tuesday, August 20th, 2013

Weddings like this don’t come around often.  When the bride is dressed in her wedding gown…and also dressing the tables with table cloth.  When rounds and rounds of Costco sized bottles of liquor are brought into the venue.  And when one of the groomsmen falls into Lake Union dancing to All 4 One’s “I Swear”.  Yes, I knew I was looking forward to Quynh+Paul’s wedding for a reason!

Quynh+Paul didn’t want a fancy wedding.  Their wish for their wedding day was to have good food with good family and friends.  And these are the weddings that I love to shoot.  Most of Quynh+Paul’s friends, to this day, are from middle and high school.  You have to admit, there’s something to be said about people who maintain close with high school friends.  They’re the type of people that seems to always be there when you need them.  It was quite an honor to be there with Quynh+Paul on their special day.  Since I’ve known Paul for such a long time, it was heart warming to see him so happy.  For as long as I’ve known Paul, he’s the type of guy that knows how to love.  And he’s found, what I think, is his equal.

Seattle Engagement Photography | Brooke+Corey | Kerry Park and Discovery Park

Sunday, August 4th, 2013

When Brooke+Corey told us they wanted their engagement photos to be a little bit different than what they’re used to, I was ecstatic!  They were open to almost anything and I have always wanted to do an engagement shoot with water balloons.  So when I pitched the idea to them, they were more than gun-hoe about it.  They even upped the ante by bringing some super soakers!  Chris and I were having as much fun as they were having in these photos while shooting them.

In addition to having fun, they also wanted to recreate their engagement night.  In Corey’s words, the engagement “was a story of plans gone wrong”.  Corey was supposed to surprise Brooke with a romantic proposal by asking her to take a picture of him with the Space Needle in the background and right before she would snap the shot, he’d get down on one knee.  But when he started to that, the ring rolled out of the box, dropped on the ground and in the knick of time, Brooke snapped the shot of Corey looking at the ground, “dumbfounded” (also Corey’s words).  Although the proposal didn’t go the way Corey wanted (let’s be honest, what proposal ever go perfectly right?) we still believe it was a romantic night for these love birds.  If their engagement was this fun, I just can’t wait for their wedding in 2014.  But for now, enjoy their sneak peek!

Seattle Wedding Photography | Jody+Joe | Washington Athletic Club

When you think of romance, fun times, and unrestrained partying, naturally you think accountants.

Right?  Wait, no?

Well we do.  And if you don’t, you haven’t been hanging with the right accountants.

Jody+Joe happen to be 2 accountants in love.  And 1 in 4 at their wedding were also of the beancounting brotherhood (they did the math, of course).  Let me tell you, them accountants sure know how to do them some weddin’!

When we first arrived, Jody was calm and quiet.  Too calm and quiet.  Maybe it was nerves, or maybe it was too early, but this much composure on your wedding day is illegal in 48 out of 50 states.

It all changed when we reached the first look, and she and Joe set their eyes on each other.  You could see it all melt away.  We watched as Jody+Joe let loose and returned to being carefree in the comfort of each other’s presence.  That, my friends, is how you know it’s love.

Seattle Wedding Photography | Brianna+Jack | Edgewater Inn & Sculpture Park

Thursday, June 27th, 2013

As a wedding photographer, I love my job.  Because I get to be by the sides of truly awesome people on the happiest days of their lives.  Seeing people in love and how they interact with one another on a day they’re starting a new future together is truly a blessing.  I couldn’t ask for a better job and I am lucky enough to work with the best people.  Brianna+Jack are two of those people.  Their wedding day was so stress free and went on without any hitches.  It was probably one of the easiest weddings we’ve ever done.

You know that saying, you can often judge someone’s character by their friends?  No?  Did I remember that wrong?  Well, if that saying is somewhat true, then Brianna+Jack are great people.  I believe one of the reasons why their wedding day went so smoothly was because of their friends.  The wedding party never strayed to do their own thing.  They were present when they should for pictures and never left the bride or groom’s side when we needed them to be there.  Jack’s best man made one of the best speeches I’ve ever heard and it was pretty evident that he spent a lot of time on it.  Brianna+Jack were surrounded by all these people that loved them and it speaks volumes about how they are as people.  Chris and I were so happy we got a chance to capture their happy day.  Enjoy their wedding photos below!

Seattle Engagement Photography | Quynh+Paul | Seattle Waterfront

Paul and I go WAY back.  We’ve known of one another since high school, but I really didn’t get to know him as a friend until college.  At that time, Paul was working at Washington Mutual as a loan agent and I also happened to bank there.  Working three jobs and going to school full time, I didn’t always have the time to properly manage my money.  So Paul would oftentimes check my balances for me, and if I was running low before a payday, he would put some money in there to help me cushion for another couple of days.  He’s one of those guys.  I never asked him to do this, but because he’s such a nice, selfless, and thoughtful guy, it’s just what he does.

And to this day, Paul’s still that same guy.  He hasn’t changed a bit.  I used to think if one day he finds a girl that’s deserving of his heart, that girl would be a pretty lucky gal.  And Quynh just happens to be his perfect other half.  It took them awhile to realize they were meant to be because Quynh also went to high school with us.  But later is better than never!  Because Paul and I have known each other for so long, we’ve seen one another date other people.  But I’ve never seen Paul so at ease and content as he is now.  Quynh is his compliment and I just can’t be happier for these two.  Not only are we photographing their wedding, but we’ll also be guests.  Those are the best weddings a photographer can attend because we can drink and shoot at the same time!  :)  I am only kidding…sort of…but until we bring you wedding photos of these two cuties, enjoy their engagement session sneak peek below.
