Seattle Wedding Photography | Amanda+Nathan | Leavenworth Sleeping Lady Resort

Saturday, August 30th, 2014

Leavenworth Washington is known for it’s German town.  In the winter, the downtown is lit up in Christmas lights and the surrounding mountains are filled with snow.  It truly feels like you’re in the middle of old Germany.  But just two weeks before Amanda+Nathan’s big day, Leavenworth was still smoke filled.  The Central Washington forest fires threatened this beautiful couple’s big day, but luckily the fires were contained and the smoke was mostly cleared out of the town itself.  It was however, 95 degrees that day and poor Amanda was in a thick, yet beautiful dress and she was such a great sport walking around in dried pine needles in the midst of a heat wave.  Take a look at their wedding sneak peek photos.  This wedding was small and intimate.  It was truly a fairy tale wonderland type of nuptial.  And I LOVE shooting weddings like this.  Enjoy!

A girl’s wedding day is a day she usually looks and feels her best.  But when you happen to catch the stomach flu the night before your big day, that’s definitely a bummer.  In this case, the bride has every right to go bridezilla on everyone and cry her heart out.  Get as emotional as she can because it’s her day and it’s about to be ruined.  But…this bride wasn’t Brooke.  Poor Brooke felt horrible the whole day and not only did it not stop her from having a day of her life, she was the one apologizing to everyone that she was sick!  Even when she needed to be rushed to the Emergency Room after a fresh face of make up, she still had a smile on her face so that everyone around her didn’t stress out over her.  I admire her for being such a strong woman and she’s seriously one of the nicest people I’ve ever worked with.  Check out her and Corey’s lovely wedding day below and wish them a wonderful life without stomach flus!!!

We love big-small weddings.  What’s a big-small wedding you ask?  Well, it’s when the wedding party, the guest list, and everything else about the it is considered BIG; however, the warmth of the crowd, the personalization of the ceremony, and the wedding couple themselves make it feel like a wedding that’s much smaller and more intimate.  And those are the funnest weddings to shoot.

Spending the whole day with Jamie+Kheim was hardly any work at all.  I said before that Khiem is one of the easiest guys to make laugh…and I still hold to that opinion.  And Jamie, well…need I say more?  She’s that classy bride that’s on time, patient, and lovely in every way.  I loved that this couple incorporated speeches about their fathers who, sadly could not be with them on their special day.  Jamie, a trained hula dancer made a special tribute by dancing for her new husband and the way that he looked at her while she performed could have made any heart melt.  I definitely think this couple will make it…don’t you? ;-) Here’s a sneak peek of their wedding day below and enjoy!

Seattle Wedding Photography | Sam+Nicky | Fireseed Catering, Whidbey Island

Fireseed Catering is the hidden treasure we discovered thanks to Sam+Nicky.  It was such a beautiful September day and the location was just beautiful.  Everything about the venue fit Sam+Nicky and we are so glad they gave us the opportunity to document their special day.  Sam wanted to make this day as personal as possible.  She’s the ultimate DIY bride…risking being eaten half alive by mosquitos so she can go into the woods with her father to chop down branches for her center pieces.  It’s a story Sam told me over a cup of coffee weeks before the big day for which I almost snorted liquid through my nose.

When it comes to a great couple, Sam+Nicky truly defines it.  I can not imagine how hard it would be to maintain a long distance relationship for the ENTIRE duration of that relationship.  But these two love birds did it.  For as long as these two’s been together, they’ve never really lived in the same city.  In fact, immediately after their wedding, Nicky had to fly out the next day back to serving our country in the National Guard.  As we captured their wedding day, our hearts really went out to them.  Because Nicky is such a great guy and Sam is the most beautiful and gentle person inside and out.  They were just the perfect match for one another.  We’re happy to share that Nicky will be moving back this winter to finally begin his life together with Sam.  But in the meantime, we hope these photos help them relive their day and bring them a little bit closer from the miles that separate them for now.

Seattle Wedding Photography | Linh+Celso | Olive 8 and Sculpture Park

One of the best perks about being a wedding photographer is having the opportunity to meet so many different kinds of people from many backgrounds.  It’s fun to learn about each individual couple, how they met, how they became engaged, as well as where they came from.  So when we met Linh+Celso, we were so excited to find out that they wanted to incorporate as many of their cultural traditions as possible in their wedding.

Me — being from Mainland China and growing up in the States since I was 8 — I did not really know what all goes into a traditional Chinese wedding.  Of course different parts of China have their own different traditions, but the tea ceremony is very widely practiced, and it is a symbol of paying respect to the couples’ parents, grandparents and other family members that have been a part of their lives up to this point.  It was so nice to be a part of that, and be able to capture that in photos.  Mix this with some fun groom games here and a lion dance there, and this absolutely becomes one of the most anticipated weddings we wanted to blog to date.  Judge for yourself!  Enjoy Linh+Celso’s wedding sneak peek below!
