Seattle Wedding Photography | Jamie+Khiem | Pioneer Park Pavilion

We love big-small weddings.  What’s a big-small wedding you ask?  Well, it’s when the wedding party, the guest list, and everything else about the it is considered BIG; however, the warmth of the crowd, the personalization of the ceremony, and the wedding couple themselves make it feel like a wedding that’s much smaller and more intimate.  And those are the funnest weddings to shoot.

Spending the whole day with Jamie+Kheim was hardly any work at all.  I said before that Khiem is one of the easiest guys to make laugh…and I still hold to that opinion.  And Jamie, well…need I say more?  She’s that classy bride that’s on time, patient, and lovely in every way.  I loved that this couple incorporated speeches about their fathers who, sadly could not be with them on their special day.  Jamie, a trained hula dancer made a special tribute by dancing for her new husband and the way that he looked at her while she performed could have made any heart melt.  I definitely think this couple will make it…don’t you? ;-) Here’s a sneak peek of their wedding day below and enjoy!

Seattle Portrait Photography | Emilio+Fam

Almost exactly two years after Amy+Erik got hitched, we got together for Emilio, their first son’s one year photo shoot.  I love my job as a photographer because not only is repeat business great, but along the way, we make awesome friends.  Hanging out with Amy, Erik, and Emilio was the highlight of that weekend.  It made me realize that I really need to hang out with them more!

Emilio has eyes that’ll someday break many hearts!  He’s started to break mine when we had to say goodbye to him.  Just take a peek of their photos and enjoy!

I love photographing families because it’s a great opportunity for me to play with kids.  Every child is different and each and one of their personalities cracks me up.  Theresa+Serimon are great parents, not because they’re personal friends of mine, but because I can see it through their kids.  You can tell Chloe wants to be like her beautiful mom in every way.  Anywhere from posing photos like her mom, to having matching boots and a mini scarf.  She’s on her way to being a beautiful classy little lady…just like her mother.  Christian thinks so highly of his daddy.  He told me his dad is stronger than Marshawn Lynch and can lift a whole house.  Now that’s a hero!

On a rare sunny Seattle fall afternoon, we went out to the park and took these lovely photos of the Strong family.  Enjoy!

Seattle Wedding Photography | Nichole+Tim | St. Ignatius Chapel and Pioneer Square

Tuesday, October 1st, 2013

When the first words out of the groom’s mouth during his wedding day is, “TWO-CHAINSSSS!!!” you know it was going to be a good day.  As photographers, on a wedding day we spend about twelve hours on our feet and it can sure be tiring.  But being with Nichole+Tim, they made us forget about our aching feet.  Nichole+Tim just wanted to have fun on their wedding day…and they weren’t kidding.  When we saw that each of the banquet tables at their reception housed two Costco sized bottles of liquor, we knew this party was going down!  Oh…and did we mention the Costco sized wine buffet off to the side in case people ran out of alcohol at their tables?

Weddings are supposed to be fun and Nichole+Tim proved this to be the case.  I’ve known Nichole for years!  In fact, Chris and Nichole worked together when he purchased my engagement ring and Nichole actually remembered the day he took a long lunch to get it.  So it was even more special for us to photograph their special day for them.  We’ve never had such a crazy time with them and their wedding party, walking around Pioneer Square yelling at the top of our lungs.  Just check them out!

I’m sure we’ve all met someone that automatically made us feel comfortable around them without them even trying very hard.  That’s how I strive to be when I meet new people and Rachel was that person for me.  I first met Rachel while shooting Bre+Casey’s wedding last fall.  When Rachel contacted me about photography and we met at a coffee shop, I knew right away that she was the type of bride I wanted to shoot.  She has an innate ability to comfort people that’s around her and her wedding day was just that.  Rachel+CJ wanted to celebrate with their closest family and friends.  They’re the couple that’s so thoughtful that they didn’t even get their own plate of food until their guests all got their food during reception.  And they are so meant to be for one another.

It doesn’t take long for one to see how passionate CJ is about Rachel.  Not only did his vows to her made me tear through my camera lens, it was also the way he held her during our portrait session together.  Whatever pose we asked him to do, he did with such ease.  As if he’s meant to hold her all his life.  And the way he touches her face when he kisses her…it melts my heart.

We were so blessed to be apart of this awesome couple’s wedding day.  Take a look at their sneak peek and slideshow below!

Seattle Engagement Photography | Priscilla+Dale | Washington Arboretum and Edmonds Beach

Tuesday, August 27th, 2013

Priscilla+Dale will be getting married in about four weeks and a couple of weeks ago, we were lucky enough to spend a nice Sunday afternoon with them walking in the park and on the beach.  Priscilla is a photographer’s dream.  Why?  Well, because she laughs on command!  I’ve never worked with anyone that can laugh naturally as easily as she can.  And although Dale is a little bit more serious, when we asked him to be a little silly infront of our lenses, he totally surprised us.  I wonder what the wedding day will bring out of these two.  Check out their engagement sneak peek below.

Seattle Wedding Photography | Quynh+Paul | Lake Union Crew

Tuesday, August 20th, 2013

Weddings like this don’t come around often.  When the bride is dressed in her wedding gown…and also dressing the tables with table cloth.  When rounds and rounds of Costco sized bottles of liquor are brought into the venue.  And when one of the groomsmen falls into Lake Union dancing to All 4 One’s “I Swear”.  Yes, I knew I was looking forward to Quynh+Paul’s wedding for a reason!

Quynh+Paul didn’t want a fancy wedding.  Their wish for their wedding day was to have good food with good family and friends.  And these are the weddings that I love to shoot.  Most of Quynh+Paul’s friends, to this day, are from middle and high school.  You have to admit, there’s something to be said about people who maintain close with high school friends.  They’re the type of people that seems to always be there when you need them.  It was quite an honor to be there with Quynh+Paul on their special day.  Since I’ve known Paul for such a long time, it was heart warming to see him so happy.  For as long as I’ve known Paul, he’s the type of guy that knows how to love.  And he’s found, what I think, is his equal.

Seattle Engagement Photography | Brooke+Corey | Kerry Park and Discovery Park

Sunday, August 4th, 2013

When Brooke+Corey told us they wanted their engagement photos to be a little bit different than what they’re used to, I was ecstatic!  They were open to almost anything and I have always wanted to do an engagement shoot with water balloons.  So when I pitched the idea to them, they were more than gun-hoe about it.  They even upped the ante by bringing some super soakers!  Chris and I were having as much fun as they were having in these photos while shooting them.

In addition to having fun, they also wanted to recreate their engagement night.  In Corey’s words, the engagement “was a story of plans gone wrong”.  Corey was supposed to surprise Brooke with a romantic proposal by asking her to take a picture of him with the Space Needle in the background and right before she would snap the shot, he’d get down on one knee.  But when he started to that, the ring rolled out of the box, dropped on the ground and in the knick of time, Brooke snapped the shot of Corey looking at the ground, “dumbfounded” (also Corey’s words).  Although the proposal didn’t go the way Corey wanted (let’s be honest, what proposal ever go perfectly right?) we still believe it was a romantic night for these love birds.  If their engagement was this fun, I just can’t wait for their wedding in 2014.  But for now, enjoy their sneak peek!

Seattle Wedding Photography | Linh+Celso | Olive 8 and Sculpture Park

Tuesday, July 30th, 2013

One of the best perks about being a wedding photographer is having the opportunity to meet so many different kinds of people from many backgrounds.  It’s fun to learn about each individual couple, how they met, how they became engaged, as well as where they came from.  So when we met Linh+Celso, we were so excited to find out that they wanted to incorporate as many of their cultural traditions as possible in their wedding.

Me — being from Mainland China and growing up in the States since I was 8 — I did not really know what all goes into a traditional Chinese wedding.  Of course different parts of China have their own different traditions, but the tea ceremony is very widely practiced, and it is a symbol of paying respect to the couples’ parents, grandparents and other family members that have been a part of their lives up to this point.  It was so nice to be a part of that, and be able to capture that in photos.  Mix this with some fun groom games here and a lion dance there, and this absolutely becomes one of the most anticipated weddings we wanted to blog to date.  Judge for yourself!  Enjoy Linh+Celso’s wedding sneak peek below!
